It was a really nice dinner! Our waiter, I believe his name was Jack, made our night so perfect! He was really nice and recommended the perfect things and had really nice jokes. Would definitely go again! The carbonara pasta was decent, the tiramisu was pretty good, the meatball pasta was a little different than what you would expect (almost tastes similar to curry?), but the garlic bread was amazing too! But overall Jack was amazing! He made it so memorable!

It's been over 2 years since our last review. On this visit the ambiance, food and service was as great as previous. We had 6 PM reservations and were immediately seated at a comfortable two person window table. Our server Kelly was friendly and attentive. The complementary starter of crusty bread with a tomato tapenade was excellent. The Grandmas salad was loaded with fresh vegetables. The entrée of Sand Dabs were lightly breaded and sautéed in lemon sauce. They were tender melt in your mouth. The fresh vegetables were perfectly cooked al dente and the mashed potatoes smooth and creamy Again we had a satisfying dining experience.

Forgot my phone, no pictures. When we come to Carmel we stay at a place on San Carlos St about a block from this restaurant. We have been here 5 times now for dinner and Giovanni's only gets better. Tonight my wife had Veal Piccata, I had Sand Dabs. Both of our dinners were delicious. Owner walks the room talking with diners. Service is always excellent. It a fun decor with the wall murals. We highly recommend Bistro Giovanni's!!!

The family and I stumbled upon this Gem of a place looking for some Italian food. It was a bit out of the way from where we were but I am super glad we did come here. FOOD: we ordered the Garlic Bread and Bruschetta for starters. The garlic bread was very soft and pillowy with crunchy edges. It has a small amount of Parmesan reggiano to give the top a bit more bite. My kids practically inhaled it and I barely got a taste. It also comes with a side of marinara but the bread went so fast I really didn't have a chance to taste it. What I did try was fantastic. The brushcatta was oval shaped little par toasted bites (crostinis) of bread with a tangy yet sweet melody of tomatoes and spices. It was perfectly balanced with a slight sprinkle of pepper. My youngest 2 split the Mama's Bolognese (fettuccine). I only had a taste but what I did taste was creamy and sweet. Just a hint of tomato texture and a meaty soft layer of ground beef. Just the right amount of each. My wife ordered the carbonara (linguine). The pancetta was perfectly cooked along with a super smooth and creamy sauce. The addition of peas and shallots adds a great contrast to the rich and creamy sauce. My son ordered the lasagna. Let me tell you. This lasagna took me back. It was so soft and fluffy and creamy and sweet. The layers just melted together when you eat it. You get the softness of the melted mozzarella, then the tangy and sweet tomato sauce, then the mildly seasoned sausage, which moves into a creamy silky bechamel and the process repeats. It was by far the best dish I have tasted in a very long time. So much so, we were all trying to grab a taste when my son wasn't paying attention. It was seriously that good. Lastly, I ordered the chicken piccata. It was a very good cut of chicken lightly grilled and pan seared. The lemon cream sauce was excellent. Its texture was silky and savory and not too lemony. The capers and spices help balance the velvety sauce. It came with a side of pan seared mixed veggies and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were delicious. They paired very well with the chicken and the lemon cream sauce. They were very creamy and perfectly blended with spices and seasonings. This was the best place I have been to in a long time and will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. I couldn't ask for a better Italian spot than this. Che bontà!
